Role Overview: Band 5 Staff Nurse
Position: Staff Nurse – Elective Orthopaedics (Treetops Unit)
Location: Heatherwood Hospital, Ascot (Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust)
Salary: £33,677 – £40,996 per annum (inclusive of HCAS, pro-rata)
Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed Term / Secondment (Full-Time, 37.5 hours/week)
Shift Pattern: Long days, night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays

The Ward (Treetops): A modern, 22-bed inpatient unit (14 side rooms, 2 bays) primarily focusing on elective orthopaedics, alongside urology, breast care, and plastics. Operates 7 days a week.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care.
Shift Leadership: Act as Nurse-in-Charge (NIC) and coordinate the department in the absence of senior staff.
Professionalism: Maintain high clinical standards in strict accordance with the NMC Code.
Collaboration: Work alongside clinical nurse specialists and a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver specialized care programs.
Culture: Role model compassionate, inclusive leadership and use coaching to empower colleagues.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Criteria
Qualifications: Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current, valid NMC Registration.
Experience: Some post-registration experience in an inpatient setting.
Skills: Strong written/verbal communication, ability to evaluate care, and a collaborative team-player mindset.
Flexibility: Fully flexible to work a rotating shift pattern (nights/weekends) and cross-cover other Trust sites if required.
Vetting: Must pass a standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Desirable Criteria (The Extras)
A Degree in Nursing or a post-registration qualification in orthopaedics/specialty care.
Knowledge or practical experience in coaching, mentoring, or Quality Improvement (QI) tools.
