IELTS in 2027: What Is Changing—and How to Prepare

Planning to take IELTS in 2027? First, separate confirmed updates from rumours. As of October 2026, IELTS has announced a change to test delivery: paper-based testing is being phased out from mid-2026, with timing varying by location. In selected markets, test takers may be able to complete the Writing section on paper while taking the other sections on computer. IELTS says this delivery update does not change the skills assessed, the test construct, or how results are interpreted. No separate 2027 change to the exam’s scoring system has been confirmed in the official update. Check the options available at your local test centre before booking. Official IELTS delivery update

Preparation still means building your Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking skills. Practise with timed tasks, review your mistakes, and get comfortable with the format you plan to take.

Fortwest International offers IELTS training to help learners prepare across all four skills, practise test-style tasks, and build confidence. Contact Fortwest International for course details, schedules, and enrolment information.
