Moving towards UK nursing registration can involve several stages, and the OSCE is an important practical component for candidates who are required to complete the NMC Test of Competence.

Step 1: Understand where the OSCE fits

OSCE arrangements have changed during 2026. The NMC currently lists three approved nursing and midwifery OSCE providers: University of Northampton, Ulster University and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Oxford Brookes University closed its OSCE centre on 31 July 2026, while Northumbria University closed its centre on 19 February 2026.

The final stage should focus on consolidation rather than learning everything from scratch.
Review your weaker stations, practise communication, complete realistic mocks and revisit the NMC Code.
