What Will the Nurse Do?

The successful candidate will work autonomously while collaborating closely with GPs and other members of the healthcare team.

Key responsibilities include conducting health assessments, triaging appointments and supporting the management of chronic and long-term conditions. The nurse will also review medications and treatment plans within their scope of practice.

The role includes a variety of clinical responsibilities such as:

  • Administering vaccinations and immunisations, including travel vaccinations
  • Supporting cervical screening and women’s health services
  • Performing phlebotomy, ECGs and wound care
  • Providing lifestyle and health-promotion advice
  • Supporting private health assessments and executive health screening
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
  • Prescribing medication within the nurse’s scope of practice
  • Following clinical governance and infection-control standards

This makes the position particularly suitable for nurses with experience in General Practice, Primary Care or community healthcare who are interested in preventative healthcare and patient wellbeing.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Applicants must have current UK professional registration and an NMC Registered Nurse qualification.

The employer is looking for candidates with experience in Primary Care or General Practice, together with an Independent Prescribing (V300) qualification.

Other important skills include immunisation competency, phlebotomy experience, excellent communication and patient-engagement skills, and strong IT and clinical-record-keeping abilities. Experience in travel health is desirable.
